A breakdown of the top 10 video games for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

It's been 25 years since the Nintendo Entertainment system was released, revolutionizing the world of video games forever. Here's a look back at the top ten games of the renowned system. Obviously, this list will be subjective and might differ from person to person. However, it's hard to deny the greatness each of these games had in their time.

10. Final Fantasy (Nintendo & Square - 1990): This game was not originally intended to have a sequel (hence the name final fantasy), but its popularity compelled its makers to create a long, popular series.

9. Mega Man 2 (Capcom - 1989): There have been many Mega Man's over the years (six on the NES), yet Mega Man 2 may have been the best, featuring unique graphics for the time and great boss battles.

8. RC Pro-Am (Nintendo - 1988): This innovative racing game was great for multi-player. It was also one of the first racing games that allowed players to attack opponents.

7. Contra (Konami - 1988): This game was immensely hard without the up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start code that gave your player 30 lives instead of three. One of the most fun multi-player games of its time, Contra was challenging, but worth playing.

6. Metroid (Nintendo - 1987): Metroid was a unique game for its time, as the hero displayed many innovative weapons, as well as the ability to roll up in a ball.

5. Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse (Konami - 1990): While the first Castlevania drew rave reviews, and the second Castlevania incorporated innovative details, like the changing from day to night when monsters became more difficult, Castlevania 3 took things to a whole new level. The coolest thing about this game is the ability to choose a path to change the ending and experience.

4. Mike Tyson's Punch Out (Nintendo - 1987): This game was all about timing, but the opponents were so unique and interesting, it was hard to put the controller down.

3. Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo - 1985): This was the game that started it all, or at least propelled Mario into superstar stature. The original Mario Bros. title was fun, but didn't hold a candle to this monumental game.

2. The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo - 1987): This game is still a classic, featuring numerous puzzles and dungeons that set the stage for a long, captivating series.

1. Super Mario 3 (Nintendo 1990): Super Mario 3 has it all, from secrets to great game play to flying.
